Quest: Instance: Unravelling the Thread

Objective One

  • Talk to Strider
Strider and his kinsmen, Torthann and Lenglinn, have led you to the outskirts of the brigand camp. Strider beckons to you.
Strider: 'Can you feel the chill in the air? It is no natural cold, but the chill of fear, of evil. I doubt not that Amdir is here, but there is a greater evil as well.
'We should split our strength. For the good of Middle-earth, none can be allowed to escape. Lenglinn and I will look for another way inside, while you and Torthann search for Amdir.
'We must be quick now, before the evil bursts forth from here and threatens all of Bree-land.'
Strider says, "It is time for us to act."
Strider says, "Torthann, take <player name> with you and head to the main gate."
Strider says, "Lenglinn and I shall look for another entrance and press the attack from there."
Torthann says, "Yes, sir."
Strider says, "Good. Lenglinn, let us go."

ObjectiveTwo

  • Help Torthann enter the Blackwold camp
Strider told you to speak with Torthann when you are ready to begin your search for Amdir. Strider and Lenglinn will find a back way in.
Torthann: 'Come with me. It is time to deal with Amdir and these brigands. If Amdir escapes, it could spell doom for Middle-earth.'
Torthann says, "Let us go! We must find Amdir!"
Torthann says, "Wait! Someone is coming. Let us see who it is!"
Blackwold Enforcer says, "What were those things? That dwarf has gone mad!"

ObjectiveThree

  • Defend Torthann as he searches for Amdir
Strider told you to speak with Torthann when you are ready to begin your search for Amdir. Strider and Lenglinn will find a back way in.
Torthann says, "Brigands! Get them!"
Torthann says, "Onwards! We must find Amdir!"
Blackwold Enforcer says, "Everything is growing black..."
Blackwold Cutthroat says, "Go away!"
Torthann says, "If you need rest, then now is the time to steel your nerve!"

Objective Four

  • Discover what is causing the brigands's fear
Strider told you to speak with Torthann when you are ready to begin your search for Amdir. Strider and Lenglinn will find a back way in.
Torthann: 'Down there, in the southern corner of the camp...the source of the Blackwold's fear is there! Come!'
Torthann says, "Let me see about this gate."

Objective Five

  • Discover what is causing the brigands's fear
Torthann sensed the source of the brigands' fear in the southern corner of the camp. You should investigate.
Skorgrím says, "Why are you so worried, Blackwold?"
Otto says, "What do you want with me! I don't know anything!"
Skorgrím says, "There, there now. There's no need for concern...yet."
Otto says, "No, no, no! Stay away!"
Skorgrím says, "Did you think service to Angmar came without a cost?"
Skorgrím says, "Ah! I have found them after all. You are relieved of your obligations, Blackwold."
Skorgrím says, "Now, to deal with you, Ranger!"

Objective Six

  • Defend Torthann as he searches for the evil in the brigands's camp
Torthann sensed the source of the brigands' fear in the southern corner of the camp. You should investigate.
Skorgrím says, "I have other business to deal with...my servant shall deal with you!"

Objective Seven

  • Speak with Torthann
Torthann sensed the source of the brigands' fear in the southern corner of the camp. You should investigate.
Torthann: 'Who was that dwarf and what power has he to command wights? That the Blackwolds were in terror of that creature is certain, but I still sense something greater still in these ruins.
'And where is Amdir? Perhaps beyond that gate.'
Torthann says, "Come friend, this is not the end of our business here!"
Torthann says, "I fear that foul dwarf is not the end of the evil here."
Torthann says, "The greatest evils may be behind this gate. Rest now, for we will need all our strength ahead!"
Torthann says, "Do not lose your nerve!"

Objective Eight

  • Defend Torthann as he searches for Amdir
Torthann is not convinced that the evil ends with the wight and thinks that Amdir is somewhere near by. Perhaps there is more to the camp.
Nazgûl says, "You shall not interfere!"
Nazgûl says, "Amdir is now a servant of the Great Eye!"
Nazgûl says, "Now, Amdir! Take on the robes of the Cargûl -- the Foresworn!"
Éogan says, "My Lords! The Rangers approach with fire!"
Nazgûl says, "The fools are too late. Amdir's change is nearly complete!"
Nazgûl says, "Come, brethren, we must leave. Now is not the time for such a fight."
Nazgûl says, "We leave Amdir and these fools in your care, Éogan!"
Éogan says, "Yes, my lord!"
Strider says, "You do not belong here, Nazgûl!"
Lenglinn says, "Do not let them escape!"
Amdir says, "You are too late! I am Cargûl! I serve the Great Eye!"
Torthann says, "I am sorry, Amdir...be at peace...."

Objective Nine

  • Speak with Torthann
Torthann beckons to you.
Torthann: 'It is a day both dreary and joyous. It grieves me that we were forced to slay Amdir, but a relief that he should now know peace.  'Let us return to my camp, and we can talk further there while we rest from battle.'
Torthann: 'The very air seems polluted by this night's business. We should tarry here no longer.'

Quest: Epic: Unravelling the Thread

Quest Giver Dialogue
'The Dourhands' lord fled to Bree-land after his defeat, and not by mere chance. I see the hand of the Captain of the Nine in all of these affairs, in the west, in the Shire, and in Bree-land. We must unravel the thread of his plans, and I believe I know how.
'To the east of Bree, there is a Blackwold camp which my men have been watching closely. A shadow has recently spread across the camp...I believe it is here that Amdir has gone, and this dwarf-lord as well.
'There we must go, and there we must end Amdir's life, if he can still be called living. We will wait for night-fall and then make our move against the Blackwolds. Speak with me again when you are ready to depart.
 Objective One
  • Talk to Strider
Are you prepared to travel yet? If so, then come night-fall we will move against the camp where Amdir and the dwarf-lord have gone into hiding.
Objective Two
Objective Three
  • Talk to Strider
It grieves my heart that the Enemy was able to turn Amdir thus. He was my friend and kinsman. My people will remember him as the man he once was, good and noble. 'It troubles me that the Nazgûl have crossed the River and moved into Bree-land at just this time. There are events in motion that could determine the fate of Middle-earth.
'If you are able and willing, I may have another task for you.

Quest: Epic: An Unwanted Guest

Quest Giver Dialogue
'So many people coming and going these days... There is one guest though, one I'd rather do without, but coin keeps a room and he comes with coin enough to pay a bill.
'Brooding sort, likes the darker corners of the Inn and speaks to none. Most people are a bit afeared of his ilk.'
Barliman lowers his voice. 'He's one o' them Rangers, he is. Calls himself Strider. From the common room turn left down the hall -- pay no mind to the hobbit in the kitchen -- and keep on until you can only go right. Follow straight down that hall until you're at the foot of the stairs. Strider is in the room to the right of the stairs.'
Objective One
  • Talk to Strider
To find Strider's room in the Prancing Pony Inn in Bree return to the door opposite Barliman Butterbur and head left down the corridor, take another left where the brigand is lolling against the wall, right just before the store room and finally right again just before the stairs.

Quest: A Little Piece of Home in Evendim

Bestowal Dialogue
You have gathered a perfect cut of boar-meat, that brings to mind a tale of woe that you overheard from a bard.
'Poor Parr Chopley has left all he has known and struck forth into the world and found himself in Evendim, in Ost Forod.
'The sad little hobbit has been searching high and low for a little piece of boar to remind him of home.'
Perhaps you should travel north to Ost Forod and seek out this hobbit and bring him this prize piece of boar-meat.

Background
This piece of boar meat, while slightly discoloured seems to be a wonderful cut of meat. Perhaps someone in Ost Forod might be really looking for something to hit the spot.

Objective One
  • Deliver the boar-meat to Parr Chopley in Ost Forod

Parr Chopley is in Ost Forod in Evendim, far to the north of the Shire.

You should bring the boar-meat to Parr Chopley.

Quest: Instance: Red-pass

Quest Giver Dialogue

Red-pass
"The Gaunt-lord Ivar spreads corruption through Agamaur, the Red Swamp, raising a host of evil to do the bidding of Angmar...."

Background

Ruins of the ancient kingdom of Rhudaur, twisted by time and the touch of a dark evil, lay before you. Alongside Radagast the Brown, you must find Elsa and Eriac and assist them against the Gaunt-lord, Ivar the Blood-hand, and his undead minions.

Objective One

  • Talk to Radagast
You have travelled with Radagast into the corrupted swamp of Agamaur. Aid him as he travels to the Eglain-encampment to the west.
Radagast: 'We must go west to the Eglain-encampment. Elsa and Eriac will be waiting, and I can better attend to the corruption from there.
'The power which continues to corrupt this swamp is terrible, but we may not have to face it alone. The beasts tell me that there are shades of Emelin's kind which dwell here and may be convinced to aid the Eglain. I do not know why they do not remain with their own kind, but they at least have not brought harm to the Eglain.
'Now, we must hurry...the very trees scream in pain. I must see what I can do to help them as quickly as possible. Follow me, though I cannot promise aid, for I fear I will need all of my strength to face Ivar the Blood-hand.'

ObjectiveTwo

  • Aid Radagast
You have travelled with Radagast into the corrupted swamp of Agamaur. Aid him as he travels to the Eglain-encampment to the west.

ObjectiveThree

  • Talk to Dannasen
The leader of the shades resides at the seemingly abandoned Eglain-encampment.
The defeat of Dour-root has opened the way into the western ruins, where the shades Radagast spoke of dwell. Radagast asked that you entreat with Dannasen, their leader, for their aid.
Dannasen: 'Neven orders me to hold my post, and I must obey. He is our commander. I am under his charge, as are my men. Honour binds us, even greater than the curse of Iarwain Ben-adar.
'I will not forsake my commander, though he is so very changed. I cannot disobey his orders while he remains. If thou wish us to fight, thou must entreat with Neven. His seat is to the north.'

Objective Four

  • Defeat Neven
Neven's throne is further northward into the ruins.
Neven holds some sway over the shade-captain, Dannasen. Perhaps if you speak with him you may find a way to alter Dannasen's orders.

Objective Five

  • Speak to Dannasen
Dannasen lingers at the Eglain-encampment to the south of Neven's throne.
Neven, the shades' commander, was actually a wight summoned by Ivar to contain the shades. With his destruction, Dannasen may now be willing to aid you.
Dannasen: 'A wight, a fell creature of Angmar...how could I have not seen this? So long have I lingered in this swamp, cursed by Iarwain Ben-adar to bring the salvation -- or the destruction -- of the Red-maid, she who dwells within Garth Agarwen a Power ow under the influence of the gaunt-men.
'I was blind to what Neven had become. Now, I shall make amends. Now, we shall make our battle and strive to fulfil our curse.'

Objective Six

  • Follow the shades deeper into Agamaur
Dannasen lingers at the Eglain-encampment to the south of Neven's throne.
Neven, the shades' commander, was actually a wight summoned by Ivar to contain the shades. With his destruction, Dannasen may now be willing to aid you.

Objective Seven

  • Follow Radagast deeper into Agamaur
Follow Radagast as he moves deeper into Agamaur.
Dannasen, renewed, called forth his men to battle and opened the way westward. It may be that now you will be able to reach Elsa and Eriac.

Objective Eight

  • Talk to Elsa the Bold
Speak to Elsa to learn more about her battles in Agamaur.
Thanks to Dannasen and his men, the way westward into Agamaur was opened, and you were able to reach Elsa and Eriac.
Elsa the Bold: 'We were beaten. There is no way to hide this. This Ivar commands the water, the wights, the forest itself. He cannot be neaten by my meagre force, and I fear there is something far more terrible within the ruins to the north.
'I know there is little time before a great evil spills forth from Garth Agarwen. Our only hope is Radagast, only he will be able to stop this Ivar. Please, go north to the gate of Garth Agarwen with him. Stop the Gaunt-lord Ivar.

Objective Nine

  • Speak to Radagast
The gate into Garth Agarwen lies to the north.
Elsa has sent you to seek Ivar at Garth Agarwen and put an end to him.
Radagast: 'Hurry now, the Gaunt-lord Ivar is not far from here, near the gates of Garth Agarwen to the north. He may not reveal himself immediately, so we may need to draw him forth.
'The way ahead will be difficult, but to not give up hope. We shall triumph this day if we do not lose heart!'

ObjectiveTen

  • Aid Radagast
The gate into Garth Agarwen lies to the north.
Elsa has sent you to seek Ivar at Garth Agarwen and put an end to him.

Objective Eleven

  • Speak to Radagast
Speak to Radagast to see if there is something else he would have you do.
Radagast has driven the Gaunt-lord Ivar from Agamaur and stopped his nefarious plans...for now.
Radagast: 'That creature commands great power, but against a heart full of hope and trust in one's allies, such power means nothing. Thank you for your help here, my friend. We have done well this day Ivar's spreading corruption is stayed, at least for the moment.
'I must return now to the Eglain encampment and help end this evil forever. There is more that you ought to do here, if you are willing. But we will not speak of such matters now.'
Radagast: 'Shall we return to the Eglain-encampment now?'
